The Importance of Defining Healthy Living
Health is a condition of mental, physical and emotional well-being where infirmity and illness are absent. It is the sum total of all the needs of the body, mind and spirit, with the idea of getting optimum health being an individual’s topmost priority. The concept of health has long been recognized as the one factor that separates the weak from the strong. The developed countries are still developing strategies to promote good health for all. However, it is evident that there is a growing concern for promoting physical well-being and defining health at its basic level. More experts are recognising the need for a multifaceted approach to promoting better lifestyle choices, including diet, physical activity and stress management, in addition to promoting prevention of chronic diseases like cancer and diabetes. In light of these developments, a definition of health has become an important first step in promoting better health for all.
